Eliel Saarinen
Born in a small Finnish town, Rantasalmi, Eliel Saarinen can be considered as the father of last century's Finnish Architecture. In 1893 he entered the Polytechnical Institute of Helsinki, the present University of Technology and in 1922 he moved to the United States to take part in the competition for the Chicago Tribune. Among his many projects, the Finnish pavillon in Paris of 1900 and the Helsinki railway station of 1919
