AM29 - Geo, drip coffee maker

see:

Among the many things he has done in life, Alessandro Mendini also happens to be an expert on small kitchen appliances. He is the one who, in the early Nineties, worked with me in coordinating and inspiring a group of designers at Philips. This spawned a little family of four electrical objects that, at the time, was called “Alessi Workshop”. Though it was short-lived on the market, it nevertheless influenced much of the design in this sector for the entire decade. Thus, it should come as no surprise that we asked him to work with Stefano Giovannoni to continue our family of electrified objects. Even as I asked him, I naturally imagined that Alessandro would come up with a very different approach with respect to the one pursued by his young colleague. And this was indeed the case: “Geo” brings to the fore an expressive, decorative and anthropomorphic language that is absolutely unprecedented in the world of kitchen appliances. This explicitly artistic approach is underscored by the presentation of a hand-painted version, the “Geo-Proust”, which has been put out in a numbered production.Alessandro Mendini also happens to be an expert on small kitchen appliances.
