We’ve already talked about Hani Rashid, who tries his hand here in the office/desktop product category, in the January 2006 issue of our magazine. He was born in Cairo in 1958 and lives in New York, where he founded Studio Asymptote in 1988. He’s one of the most interesting exponents of the group of the young international designers associated with “digital architecture”, and the author of the new Alessi showroom in New York which opens this August. It is no secret that we’re betting on Hani as one of the potential renovators of our housewares collections over the coming years...
Rashid Hani
Rashid was born in Cairo in 1958. He studied architecture in Canada and in the United States, before opening his New York Asymptote Studio in 1988. He holds various teaches posts worldwide, and with his studio has designed a vast range of works that place him well ahead of his peers in the field of digital design. His projects span from experimental spatial installations to digital architecture. His most innovative works include two multi-dimensional and interactive architectural environments, i.e. the New York Stock Exchange Virtual Trading Floor and the Guggenheim Virtual Museum.
