Australian Tom Kovac, with Slovenian roots, resides in Melbourne where he teaches at the RMIT University; he is a member of the “Digital architecture” group of talented young international architects. The “SUPA_CUP” coffee cup with its spoon is reconnected to the coffee and tea service designed for the “Tea & Coffee Towers” (2003) project.
This designer’s project research is definitely on the borderline. He explores the potential of a new production process in the field of non-standardized techniques following his dream of a new technological direction, without a consistent theoretical model, that would allow for current practices of a conciliatory and remissive design to be in opposition to the idea of defining a non-normalized procedure for the design, construction and production of objects that can awaken the instability and fragility of the fixed categories with designs for projects and inventions (I’m sorry about the length of this sentence but this is a difficult subject to broach).
