Our collaboration with the young Turkish designer started in the early Nineties, when he entered the initial elimination round of the "Memory Containers" operation . This new project for a large cup takes up the Alessi tradition of processing steel wire (as for example in the baskets and citrus-fruit stands of the Forties and Fifties) in which no designer, despite numerous attempts during the following decades, had ever been able to propose projects of high quality and of commercial interest. The delicately ethnic formal language and a clear decorative element would suggest it is destined to occupy a privileged position in our Encyclopaedia.
