Alessi at Padiglione Italia, Shanghai Expo

10 May 2010

“City of Man, Living the Italian Way” is the concept conceived together with Triennale di Milano for Padiglione Italia at the 2010 Shanghai Expo. A display area that will spotlight the various different guises of ‘Made in Italy’: from furniture and design, to technology, healthcare, wellbeing and eco-sustainable architecture.

This up-to-date “Italian Way of Life” exhibition would not be the same without the contribution of Alessi, one of the best known Italian companies at international level, present here in one of its favourite settings, the kitchen. Alessi will help serve up lunch in one of the Padiglione Italia restaurants, the Caravaggio, with services and accessories designed by some of the most famous designers of the Crusinallo based company, from Sottsass and Giovannoni, to Mendini, Morrison, Fuksas, Sapper, Graves and Rossi as well as a number of classic items designed within the company in the 50’s and 60’s. The restaurant kitchen, in turn, will prepare highly refined dishes with the most professional cookware in the Officina Alessi catalogue, including pots from the La Cintura di Orione range, designed by Richard Sapper with the consultancy of some of the most interesting exponents of European haute cuisine.

Finally, in the Italian Pavillon’s Shop, Alessi lovers and collectors will be able to find a number of items from the catalogue that have been carefully chosen for visitors to the Expo, miniature editions of the biggest bestsellers, and the "T-Dream" t-shirts, produced to help the AiBi association, which seeks to make the dreams of the most underprivileged children in the world a reality.
