“Pasta Pot” by Patrick Jouin for French chef Alain Ducasse  (2007) and the table set “Tonale”, designed by English architect David Chipperfield (2009) have received the XXII Compasso d’Oro award adding to the other seven Compasso d’Oro Awards that Alessi has received so far.
The two Compasso d’Oro awards have been given for the following reasons:
 
“Pasta Pot”
“For the attention given to the entire design process without focussing on each single element”.

“Tonale”
“For its harmonic elegance inspired by paintings ”.

The other seven products to receive the Compasso d’Oro over the years were the “9090” espresso coffee maker by  Richard Sapper in 1979; the Neapolitan coffee maker by Riccardo Dalisi in 1981, the “Dry” cutlery set by Achille Castiglioni and the Tea and Coffee set by Richard Meyer in 1984, the Officina Alessi brand in 1987, the “Nuovo Milano” cutlery set by Ettore Sottsass in 1989 and  the “Cobàn” espresso coffee machine by Richard Sapper in 1998. These two new awards illustrate once again the tireless and delicate research activity of the Italian Design Factories that lies on the borderline between form and function.

ADI Compasso d’Oro Award is the oldest and most influential international design award bestowed in recognition of the best Italian Industrial design. Arisen by a Gio Ponti’s idea in 1954, the Compasso d’Oro Award has been managed by the ADI (Foundation for Italian Design) since 1962 thus ensuring its impartiality and integrity.
The Compasso d’Oro is awarded on the basis of a pre-selection made by ADI Permanent Observatory of Design over the last three years and published in the Design Index. Among the pre-selected projects, 19 products have been awarded the XXII Compasso d’Oro and   77 have received the Honorable Mention.
