This presentation contains a number of particularly ambitious projects which, though unmistakably “Alessi” in concept, all have different design approaches. […] I think that the common denominator consists of the cultural project that underlies our work and one of whose fundamental features is, as by now should be familiar to all, the approach in which design is considered as a global creative activity, complete with artistic and poetic characteristics. […] Whether literature, music, architecture or design, the important thing is the overall complexity of the work, in which the fundamental aspect is its capability to move us, to make us think for a moment, or prompt a smile, which is exactly the ambition of the designs described in these pages.
The
“OFFICINA ALESSI”
brand, which includes the most sophisticated, expensive, experimental and innovative products, presents a group of objects by Dutch architect Wiel Arets, amongst which the “coffee.it” espresso coffee pot.
The
“ALESSI”
brand, the central brand in our mission as “The Dream Factory”, presents a series of knives named “La Cintura di Orione” (Orion’s Belt) by Richard Sapper with Alberto Gozzi; two new creations by young Australian Abi Alice; the “Trinava” flower vase by Hani Rashid; the “POP-UP” bottle opener by Giovanni Alessi Anghini; new objects in the “Mediterraneo” family; new gift packs for Alessi cutlery, and the first collection of miniature reproductions of classic Alessi objects.
The
“A di ALESSI”
brand consolidates its mission of design excellence at more “democratic” prices with two high-calibre designs, two truly exceptional pieces: firstly, the “OrienTales” collection by Stefano Giovannoni with Rumiko Takeda, and secondly, bone china plates and glasses completing the tableware project by Jasper Morrison. Last but not least, in cooperation with the Corraini publishing house in Mantua, we are presenting the first series of small books with an accompanying DVD edited by the Alessi Museum. These contain interviews/lessons on design by some of the creators who have helped make Alessi into “The Dream Factory” that we all know and love.
