Miniatures of Alessi classics
various designers, 2008
The object as an expression of experience. Value as a measure of emotion. The combination of functional and emotional values generates unique symbols of style, and very often Alessi’s objects are prime examples.
Who amongst us does not own at least one Alessi object? And who amongst us has never dreamed, at least once, of owning many others? A close-knit relationship of cooperation, consideration and mutual respect has, over the years, induced the greatest international design personalities to work together with the Alessi company in order to make practical, tangible, everyday objects enhanced by a powerful sense of style and poetry. A healthy approach to beauty, and unequalled characteristics of functionality.
Alessi, as a response to that subtle yearning for beauty concealed in the character of all people, has developed a series named Miniature, comprising miniatures of classics, those Alessi products that have become design icons. Small sculptures that enrich our everyday life. Eleven "best-sellers", carefully chosen from the very top of the range, the most successful projects created over the course of the last sixty years. Objects that have filled the pages not just of Alessi’s catalogues, but of magazines world-wide. Today they are made in miniature versions, perfectly reproducing the shape of the objects and the materials in which they are made.
These miniatures thus comprise communicative gestures, small expressions of the recurrent desire to surround oneself with beautiful things that represent the physical expression of distinctive taste.
From the "Bombé" teapot by Carlo Alessi to the "Mami" stockpot by Stefano Giovannoni, the many collectors amongst us will be spoilt for choice.
