Pick-Up, designed by Jakob Wagner, encompasses two separate functions in a single object: a Side table and an ample Magazine stand. The round table top, made of white thermoplastic material with a mat finish, has a large cavity in its center, allowing the object to be gripped. This cavity has been designed with particular attention to ergonomics, so that it can easily accommodate one’s hand, allowing it to be portable both in the living room or in the office in a way that is practical and easy to handle.
Born in Denmark in 1963 Jakob Wagner did his first degree in Design-Engineering. After studies and internships in USA, Italy and France he completed his second degree in Product Design at Art Center, Switzerland in 1992. In 1993 he opened Jakob Wagner Studio in Copenhagen initially focusing on high tech products for sports, professional and medical applications. Around 2002 Jakob Wagner began to focus on objects for the home which led to product lines for Alessi, Bang & Olufsen, Menu, Muuto and Stelton and furniture projects for Cappellini, B&B Italia, Moroso and Hay among others. Jakob Wagner’s work has been exhibited internationally and has received numerous awards (4 IF awards, 3 Red Dots, Bundespries, Designer of the year etc) and is included in the permanent exhibition at MOMA New York.
