Alice is designed by Odile Decq. Odile Decq is known around the world for a unique architectural style rich in tension-creating viewpoints and perspectives, shifts, movement and a dynamic vision, all of which can also be found in this new work. The surface of the Tray becomes an expressive space resulting from the intersection of lines and planes which appear to originate from different perspectives. The Alice tray also introduces a new way of serving, with a shape that invites users to hold it with their hands in an asymmetrical position, one in front of the other.
Odile Decq studied architecture at the Universities of Rennes and Paris. She is one of the few women architects to have received some of the most prestigious awards in her profession, from the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 1996 to the recent Designer of the Year at the Salon Maison & Objet 2013. She is internationally known for always having fought, in this world of men, to express her sensorial and protean vision that continue to redefine the boundaries of her profession and which she has called “hypertension", meaning the fact that a space should make us move, i.e. it should put us “in tension". www.odiledecq.com
